CTET Exam Date 2026 Postponed: CBSE Reopens Application Window Till September 1, Check Revised Exam Date. The CTET 2026 exam date has been postponed, giving candidates some additional time to prepare for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. Along with postponing the examination, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reopened the application window for candidates who could not complete their registration during the earlier application period.
The reopened application window started on August 25, 2026, and eligible candidates can now submit their CTET applications until September 1, 2026. However, the revised CTET 2026 exam date has not been announced yet. CBSE will announce the new examination date after the extended application window closes.
Candidates who have already successfully submitted their CTET application do not need to apply again.

Candidates should therefore not consider September 6 as the final examination date. The new CTET exam schedule will be announced separately by CBSE.

Why Was the CTET Exam Postponed?
The decision to reopen the CTET application window was taken after eligible candidates who missed the earlier registration period requested another opportunity to apply.
The move also follows a recent Supreme Court judgment, which emphasised the need to provide eligible teachers with a reasonable opportunity to fulfil the prescribed Teacher Eligibility Test requirement.
As a result, CBSE has reopened the registration portal so that eligible candidates who could not apply earlier can now complete their applications.
CTET 2026 Application Window Reopened
The CTET application portal is open from August 25 to September 1, 2026.
Candidates who missed the previous registration window should complete their application within the extended deadline. It is advisable not to wait until the last day, as the process includes filling out the form, uploading documents and paying the examination fee.
Candidates who have already successfully submitted their applications should not submit a fresh application.
