How to Prepare for UPPSC RO ARO 2026?

1. Divide the Syllabus Into Small Targets

The RO ARO syllabus looks lengthy when viewed as a whole. Instead of trying to finish everything at once, divide it into weekly targets.

For example:

Week 1: History + Hindi Grammar
Week 2: Polity + UP GK
Week 3: Geography + Current Affairs
Week 4: Economy + Science + Revision

This makes preparation more manageable.

2. Give Extra Attention to UP GK

Keep separate notes for Uttar Pradesh-related:

  • History
  • Geography
  • Culture
  • Agriculture
  • Industries
  • Education
  • Trade
  • Social traditions
  • Current affairs

Revise these notes regularly.

3. Study Hindi Every Day

Hindi should be part of your daily routine.

A simple routine can include:

  • 20 minutes grammar
  • 15 minutes vocabulary
  • 15 minutes objective questions
  • 10 minutes revision

This is much more effective than studying Hindi for several hours only once a week.

4. Start Mains Preparation Early

Mains preparation should begin alongside Prelims preparation.

Spend some time every week practising:

  • Essay writing
  • Summary writing
  • Official letters
  • Drafting
  • Vocabulary
  • Passage-based questions

5. Solve Previous-Year Questions

Previous-year questions help you understand what type of questions you need to prepare for.

After completing each topic, solve related questions and identify your weak areas.

6. Take Regular Mock Tests

Mock tests are useful for improving:

  • Speed
  • Accuracy
  • Time management
  • Question selection
  • Exam temperament

After every mock test, spend time analysing your mistakes instead of simply checking your score.

Common Mistakes Candidates Should Avoid

Ignoring the UP-Specific Syllabus

Many candidates focus heavily on national-level subjects and don’t give enough attention to Uttar Pradesh-related topics.

Leaving Hindi for the Last Moment

Hindi appears in the examination at different stages, so regular preparation is important.

Starting Mains Preparation Too Late

Essay writing and drafting are skills. They improve through practice, not through last-minute reading.

Collecting Too Many Current Affairs Notes

Don’t keep adding material without revising it. Keep your notes short and revise them repeatedly.

Taking Mock Tests Without Analysis

A mock test is useful only when you understand why you made mistakes.

Ignoring Typing Practice

Waiting until the end to practise Hindi typing can create unnecessary pressure.
